A 23-year-old woman wanted for a triple homicide in Virginia was arrested by police in upstate New York following a high-speed chase.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said that deputies were dispatched to a home for a welfare check on Tuesday (June 4). When officers arrived, they found three people deceased with blunt-force trauma injuries.
The victims were identified as Robert John McGuire, 77; Gregory Scott Powell, 60; and Carol Anne Reese, 65. Investigators identified their roommate, Alyssa Jane Venable, as the suspect in their murder.
On Thursday, New York State troopers tried to pull over a gray 2009 Honda Civic that matched the description of Venable's car. Venable refused to stop, leading officers on a high-speed chase that topped 100 mph.
Officers deployed a tire deflation device, which caused Venable to crash. She was taken into custody and brought to the hospital as a precaution.
Officials in New York are preparing to extradite Venable to Virginia, where she faces three counts of second-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
