Burglar Thought Unmarked Cop Car Was His Lyft

Here's another daily dose of "Criminalz Iz Stoopud".

A 28-year-old guy in New Jersey broke into a couple's house last Thursday night, but ran off when they woke up.

Then cops showed up in an unmarked cop car, and he jumped in thinking it was his Lyft.

News12 Reports:

Rochelle Park police were able to arrest an alleged thief after he mistook a police cruiser for the ride-share car he ordered as a getaway vehicle.
Rochelle Park police say that Nicholas Maziot, 28, broke into a home on Catherine Street Thursday evening. Police say that he woke up the couple living in the home, so he quickly ran away.
Maziot ordered a Lyft car to drive him away from the area. Authorities say that when the police cruisers showed up, Maziot thought one of them was his Lyft car. He was arrested immediately.
Maziot also had arrest warrants out of Passaic County and Sparta. He is being held at the Bergen County jail.

Here's a news report.
