A British woman suffocated to death after she she accidentally strangled herself performing a "dangerous and degrading" webcam sex act while an online pervert watched from home and did nothing, according to a coroner report.
Hope Barden was a 21-year-old disability worker who made extra money on the side as a webcam girl to make extra cash.
One of her clients, 45-year-old Jerome Dangar, paid her so he could watch her strangle herself. He also watched as she suffocated to death in March 2018 and he didn't bother calling for help, according to the report.
Investigators say Dangar encouraged the woman to perform extremely dangerous sex acts during the three months they knew each other. However, he won't face charges because he was found dead in his prison cell on April 15, 2019.
Police say he watched her die and made no attempt to contact emergency personnel while she was in danger.
The victim's mother is now calling for stricter regulations in the industry to prevent things like this from happening in the future.
But is this a problem that a government solution could prevent in the future? Seems unlikely.
